The 18th Istanbul Biennial has been postponed to 2025 from its original opening date of 14 September 2024, the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) has announced.
The move came in response to recent events related to the İKSV’s decision-making procedures. It has also been announced that Iwona Blazwick has stepped down as curator of the biennial.
The İKSV has been planning the 18th edition under a proposed curatorial framework exploring the role of art in the wake of loss and trauma. The biennial will feature 58 confirmed artists and dozens of new works produced for the event.
