Dala Nasser has been awarded the inaugural Isola Sicilia prize, launched by Oelle Mediterraneo Antico Foundation in collaboration with Artissima, the contemporary Italian art fair. The artist was awarded a residency hosted by the Oelle Foundation at its headquarters in the Acicastello commune in Sicily, to research the concept of ‘Sicily, an island among islands’. The prize was presented by an international jury composed of Etienne Bernard, director of the Frac Bretagne in Rennes; Stefano Collicelli Cagol, director of the Pecci Center in Prato; and Francesca Guerisoli, artistic director of the Contemporary Art Museum in Lissone. Isola Sicilia was launched last year to promote research by young artists in the fields of visual arts, photography, video and sound art.
