The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) has announced the details of its upcoming 2023 NGV Triennial.
This year’s edition will showcase new forms of creative expression in contemporary practice, responding to the significant structural changes the world has witnessed in recent times. It unfolds through three key themes: Magic examines how human spirituality has shaped our world, Matter delves into the role of nature and materials in human culture and Memory explores the history of people, places and objects in today’s world.
Tony Ellwood AM, director of NGV, said: “In the three years since the last NGV Triennial, the world has experienced a great many structural shifts, including a global pandemic. Through the work of more than 100 artists, designers, architects and collectives from Australia and around the world, the NGV Triennial offers a powerful insight into the ideas and concerns empowering creative practice in 2023.”
Artists for the upcoming edition include Farrokh Mahdavi, Hoda Afshar, Diana Al-Hadid, Nazgol Ansarinia, among others. See the full list below:
