More than 120 artworks will be showcased, including new-site specific commissions by Ayman Yossri Daydban, Aziz Jamal, Erwin Wurm, Jose Dávila and Younes Rahmoun and others. The commissions respond to this year’s theme, The Bright Side of the Desert Moon, which explores the desert as a site of community and connection despite differences.
Curated by Jérome Sans (lead curator), Pedro Alonzo, Alaa Tarabzouni and Fahad Bin Naif (curators), the festival’s third edition will take place in public spaces located in five hubs across Riyadh: the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), the JAX District, Salam Park, Wadi Namar and Wadi Hanifa.
The five hubs will also host more than 40 talks, over 100 workshops and family activities and more than 1,000 guided tours. The programming engages 450 schools, while the festival teams include 60 university ambassadors and 43 apprentices.
The festival’s accompanying exhibition Refracting Identities, Shared Futures will take place at JAX District. Curated by Neville Wakefield and Maya Al Athel, the show will explore light as a metaphor for our ever-changing human and cultural identities. See the full artist list below.
