The artist list has been announced for the upcoming Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art that will take place from 30 November 2024 to 27 April 2025.
The 11th edition of the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art’s (QAGOMA) triennial will bring together seventy artists, collectives and projects from more than thirty countries around the globe to showcase the most compelling contemporary art of the region.
With a specialist team from QAGOMA leading the curatorial project for Asian and Pacific art, over 500 artworks will be showcased, including several brand-new commissions from leading artists in the region.
Highlights shared so far for this year’s edition include Dana Awartani’s Standing by the Ruins, a remarkable floor-based installation rooted in the artist’s mastery of Islamic craft and geometry, which comments on the effects of war on culture and the healing process that follows.
Notable artists from the Middle East participating in the Triennial include Dana Awartani, Abolfazl Harouni, Shala Hosseini and Filwa Nazer.
