Gypsum is pleased to present Long Story Short, a summer group exhibition on the occasion of the gallery’s 10th anniversary year.
Long Story Short offers a glimpse into Gypsum’s history of exhibitions and artist collaborations over the last decade, showcasing both new and existing works produced between 2001-2024.
The exhibition includes works by 21 artists from Gypsum’s roster as well as some artists whom we have worked with over the years. Varying in concept and form, and ranging in mediums from drawing, painting, collage, textile, and mixed media to photography and digital work, the show touches on an array of themes and issues such as the intricacies between the physical body and its surrounding social, political, and geographical climate, the making and unmaking of architectural sites and histories, and the relationship between memory objects and social dynamics.
On the occasion of the exhibition, Gypsum will be donating a portion of the gallery’s proceeds to Taawon’s Orphan Gaza Care Program, an initiative supporting children who have lost one or both parents in the 2023/2024 attacks on Gaza. Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization dedicated to development and relief programs in Palestine.
