The winners of the Boghossian Foundation Prize in Lebanon for 2024 have been announced, including Hussein Nassereddine, Petram Chalach and Monya Riachi in the Visual Art Category. Joseph Khallouf in the Cinéma Coup de Cœur category, in collaboration with the Liban Cinéma Foundation, was awarded for his film Letters (2023).
Additionally, Basma Khatib and Jana Salika were selected as winners for the Literature Prize, in partnership with the Assabil municipal libraries.
The selected artists receive USD 6,000 for Visual Arts and USD 10,000 for Cinema, while Literature and Manuscripts receive USD 3,000. In addition to this, the second prize winners of Visual Arts and Cinema are welcomed as artists in Residence at the Villa Empain in Brussels, thus furthering the cross-cultural exchange. On 28 November, the winners were announced in an award ceremony in Beirut.
The Boghossian Foundation Prize was established in 2012 as a means to encourage artistic exchange between the East and the West, and to provide an opportunity for young Lebanese artists. The winners of the prize come from abroad range of artistic practices, and are chosen by a board which includes a number of well-known art world figures. Chairing the board is Louma Salmé, who is the director of the Boghossian Foundation in Brussels. Since the inaugural edition, 59 artists have been recognised by the Boghossian Foundation.
