Desert X, the contemporary art exhibition in the Coachella Valley, is set to return for its fifth edition, curated by Artistic Director Neville Wakefield and co-curator Kaitlin Garcia-Maestas. This year’s exhibition will explore the complex and layered narratives of the desert landscape, merging ancestral wisdom with contemporary perspectives on our shared future. Desert X 2025 will reflect on themes of displacement, sovereignty and adaptation, with a focus on the timeless evolution of the desert environment. Acknowledging the Cahuilla People as the land’s original stewards, Desert X celebrates cultural exchange and accessibility.
The participating artists for Desert X 2025 are: Sanford Biggers, Jose Dávila, Agnes Denes, Cannupa Hanska Luger, Raphael Hefti, Kimsooja, Kapwani Kiwanga, Sarah Meyohas, Ronald Rael, Alison Saar and Muhannad Shono.
Desert X 2025 will runs from 8 March to 11 May.
