The 111 invited artists for the upcoming Venice Biennale’s main exhibition have been announced.
Participants include artists, collaborative duos and collectives, as well as artist-led organisations, selected by the late Koyo Kouoh, to show under the theme In Minor Keys. Gathering artists from territories and regions across the world, the exhibition invites audiences and participants alike to take the time to tune into the finer frequencies around us, encouraging a gentler and more measured approach to life while remaining open to new ways of perceiving and receiving our surroundings.
Artists from the region include Kader Attia, rana elnemr, Joana Hadjithomas & Khalil Joreige, Mohammed Joha, Walid Raad, Khaled Sabsabi, Amina Saoudi Aït Khay, Hala Schoukair, Vera Tamari and Raed Yassin, among others.
Khaled Sabsabi’s inclusion will mark the first time an artist has presented both in the main exhibition and in a national pavilion, as the artist is set to represent Australia at the upcoming Venice Biennale, having been reinstated following the cancellation of his selection.
