The Venice Biennale has announced that the 60th International Art Exhibition, set to take place from 20 April to 24 November 2024, will be curated by Brazil’s Adriano Pedrosa. The appointment makes Pedrosa the first curator from Latin America to headline the major global arts festival. As the artistic director of the Museu de Arte de S.o Paulo, he has re-centred marginalised and overlooked artists and art histories through his exhibitions, which currently include an ongoing retrospective dedicated to the late Brazilian painter Judith Lauand. Pedrosa’s previous roles include adjunct curator of the 24th Bienal de S.o Paulo, co-curator of the 12th Istanbul Biennial and curator of the S.o Paulo pavilion at the 9th Shanghai Biennale.
