Art Dubai has shared details of the upcoming 20th anniversary edition set to take place from 17 to 19 April 2026.
The 2026 edition will be the first under fair director Dunja Gottweis. Guided by the curatorial theme of Future, Past, Present, the 20th anniversary will reflect on artistic legacies while foregrounding emerging practices and experimental approaches.
The fair’s programme aims to unite galleries, curated sections and commissioned projects, creating a platform for exchange, dialogue and engagement across global artistic communities. Next year, the fair will welcome 36 first-time exhibitors alongside returning galleries, with a total of over 100 galleries from more than 35 countries participating across Contemporary, Modern and Digital.
Gottweis notes: “ For 20 years Art Dubai has been instrumental in shaping Dubai’s creative identity and it now stands as one of the world’s most distinctive art fairs in one of the world’s most dynamic and global cities. Culture and creativity are shaping a vibrant and enduring art scene in Dubai, supporting a global network of artists, gallerists, collectors and curators. They, in turn, are shaping a locally grounded and year-round living cultural ecosystem”.
The fair will also include four curated sections. This includes Zamaniyyat, curated by Dr Sarah A Rifky, which traces modernist linages and 20th century artistic developments; Bawwaba, curated by Amal Khalaf, which highlights works shaped by contemporary global conditions; the newly introduced Bawwaba Extended, curated by Amal Khalaf and Alexie Glass-Kantor, presents works that expand the boundaries of space and visitor interactions by creating immersive experiences; and the returning section Art Dubai Digital entitled Myth of the Digital, curated by Ulrich Schrauth and Nadine Khalil, showcasing digital media.
