Dream City has announced the artist list for its upcoming edition, set to take place from 3 to 19 October in Tunis.
The tenth edition of the art festival will include the Dream Exhibition overseen by curator Tarek Abou El Fetouh, entitled Suni’a Bisihrika (Made with Your Magic), with later chapters of the show travelling to Beirut, Jeddah and Baghdad before returning to Tunis in 2027, in the form of a publication and exhibition.
Dream City will take place in 32 locations across the city of Tunis, from public squares, disused buildings, and from the streets to local cafés, furthering its rootedness in the urban landscape of the Tunisian capital as the works enter into conversation with residents and pressing issues of the time.
The participating artists, whether local, regional or international, are invited to engage directly with the beating heart the city, as they depart from convention to display art in new ways, engaging more fully with their surroundings by displaying their work in unconventional locations.
Working across a variety of media, including visual arts, performance, dance, theatre and cinema, the selected artists have developed projects over the span of two years, supported by Dream City to create commissioned works which are timely and in tune with the context of Tunis and the world of today.
The festival will unfold across nine categories: Dream Creations, at the heart of the festival and gathering artists whose work slowly unfolds in tandem with the pace of the city; Dream Guests, where international artists are invited to step outside of the box by grounding their work in the surrounding urban area; Dream Exhibition, which will see El Fetouh’s exhibition project Suni’a Bisihrika unfold through works by 20 artists; Dream Collaborations, which highlights Dream City’s collaborations with TACIR, Sharjah Art Foundation and Bard College; Dream Labs, which will see a series of talks and workshops take place to encourage conversations between art world professionals, locals, festival attendees and the city’s youth; Dream Concerts, a series of open-air concerts in the middle of the city; Dream Videos & Films, which will showcase video works chosen for their approach to devastating realities while revealing the poetry of everyday sensibilities; Dream Leyli, which will unfold as a celebration amongst festival participants leading from the streets of the Medina to historical locales such as Lafayette; and Kharbga City, a series of activities and workshops with artists and artisans of the Median specifically designed for young people and children.
Dream City is a multidisciplinary festival which was founded in 2007 by Selma and Sofiane Ouissi, both choreographers, who were later joined by Jan Goossens in 2025, and takes place every two years in the Tunisian capital of Tunis.
