Opera Gallery Dubai is pleased to present Summer Vibes a dynamic group exhibition showcasing works by emerging and established contemporary artists. Curated to blur the lines between styles and themes, the show offers a bold and diverse survey of contemporary art created over the past decade.
Featuring paintings by contemporary artists such as Thomas Dillon, Shepard Fairey, KAWS, George Morton-Clark, Adrián Navarro, OS GEMEOS, Miguel Sainz Ojeda, Xevi Solà, Alex Sutcliffe, Adjei Tawiah, and Takashi Murakami, as well as a sculpture by Pieter Obels, the exhibition celebrates the diverse ways in which each artist uses colour and form to create resonant works within today’s ever-evolving contemporary art landscape.
The exhibition features an electrifying range of mediums and styles – from the iconic works of Takashi Murakami, Shepard Fairey, and KAWS, characterised by bold visuals influenced by pop culture and mass media, to the abstract compositions of Adrián Navarro, which layer colour, line, and shape to evoke organic matter.
Gestural figurative painting plays a central role in the exhibition – from George Morton-Clark’s cartoonish figures with exaggerated expressions to Miguel Sainz Ojeda’s symbol-laden compositions populated by animal-like forms. Alex Sutcliffe bridges tradition and modernity through expressive works that incorporate digital processes into a classical painting practice, while Thomas Dillon uses texture and movement to create dynamic pieces often anchored by the suggestion of a pair of eyes. Xevi Solà and Adjei Tawiah take a more literal approach to figuration, offering evocative portraits of people and places rendered in vivid, contrasting colours. The exhibition’s sole sculpture, by Pieter Obels, challenges material expectations with corten steel forms that evoke grace and fluidity.
Through this broad range of artistic mediums, aesthetic influences, and thematic subject matter, ‘Summer Vibes’ invites visitors into a compelling visual experience that reflects the evolving landscape of contemporary art. Through unexpected juxtapositions and striking curatorial choices, it brings a diverse body of work into direct conversation, creating an impactful convergence of some of today’s most relevant artistic voices.
