Miuccia Prada has formalised her role as Fondazione Prada’s Director, confirming her ongoing commitment over three decades to the institution’s present and future initiatives in the fields of art and culture.
Prada also established a Steering Committee, which will be integrated into the Fondazione’s organisation and whose function is to develop research in a diverse range of areas – including education, visual studies, neuroscience, social practices, cinema, visual languages and intercultural dialogue – for the creation of multidisciplinary projects.
The Committee consists of Giuliana Bruno, Emmet Blakeney Gleason Professor of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University; Giancarlo Comi, Honorary Professor of Neurology at the Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan; Theaster Gates, artist, activist and Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Visual Arts; Alejandro González Iñárritu, film director, screenwriter and film producer; and Salvatore Settis, archaeologist, art historian and Professor Emeritus at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa.
The research will aim to foster cultural debate, which is the basis of Fondazione Prada’s programme of initiatives in collaboration with a network of artists, curators, scientiests, scholars, filmmakers and musicians across its venues in Shanghai, Tokyo, New York, Milan and Venice.
