The Saudi Ministry of Culture has launched the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMoCA) at JAX District in Diriyah. The museum opens to the public today, 1 November 2023.

SAMoCA serves as a platform for showcasing contemporary artworks, supporting local artists and facilitating networking and knowledge exchange within the artist community.

The venue at JAX is a preliminary step towards establishing the museum proper, which is set to be one of the largest and most ambitious collecting institutions in the Kingdom.

For its inaugural exhibition, coinciding with the opening, SAMoCA unveils the third edition of the International Biennial of Contemporary Art of the South (Bienalsur), entitled Imagine: Fantasies, Dreams, Utopias and which runs from 1 November to 31 December.
