Zegna has announced a multi-year partnership with Art Basel across four fairs – Basel, Miami Beach, Hong Kong and Paris. The collaboration continues Zegna’s long-standing commitment to celebrating the intersection of creativity, community and nature and inspiring social and environmental change.
The partnership will see curated experiences unfold and create conversations at the crossroads of art, design and entrepreneurship. At the heart of the collaboration is Visible, an initiative between Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto and Fondazione Zegna, designed to champion socially engaged artistic practices through a fellowship model.
During Art Basel in Basel in June, Zegna will announce the recipients of the 2025 Visible Situated Fellowships. These artists and collectives from around the world will be recognised for their works that highlight pressing environmental and social matters through creative expression.
The evening will also honour Michelangelo Pistoletto, who was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and will celebrate the artist’s commitment to using his practice as a tool for peace and positive transformations in society.
Gildo Zegna, Chairman and CEO of Ermenegildo Zegna Group shared his thoughts on the multi-year partnership: “For over a century, our family has believed in the power of art to elevate places, enrich lives, and shape culture. This partnership with Art Basel and Cittadellarte is a natural evolution of that belief – a way to honor our legacy while looking forward. At Zegna, we see art not as embellishment, but as an agent of change. By supporting socially engaged artists through the “Visible” project, we’re reinforcing our commitment to a future where creativity, community, and responsibility can thrive together.”
Since the early twentieth century, Zegna’s relationship with art has been at the core of its identity and reflects the values of its founder, Ermenegildo Zegna. During the 1920s, Zegna commissioned local artists, such as Ettore Pistoletto Olivero and Otto Maraini, to enrich the town of Trivero and the original wool mill, which is known today as Oasi Zegna. Works from artists, designers and architects created works that line the road linking the 100km² location to local communities in a harmonious meeting between humans, art and nature. The commissioned pieces transformed the area into a living museum. Since then, Zegna has continued commissioning site-specific works by artists including Daniel Buren, Dan Graham and Roman Signer.
Further afield, Zegna has invited artists such as Graham Sutherland, Not Vital and Kiki Smith to create bespoke wool trophies, as well as works throughout Zegna’s spaces including Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Woolen – The Reinstated Apple (2007) in the Milan headquarters, and installations by William Kentridge, Mimmo Jodice and Ettore Spalletti in stores internationally.
