Mona Hatoum has been announced as the recipient of the Hamburger Bahnhof Lifetime Achievement Award 2026.
The award is bestowed upon artists who have had a consequential impact on contemporary culture across the globe, in addition to significant ties to Berlin and Germany.
The director Emerita of Tate Modern, Frances Morris, presented Hatoum with the award. The artist has held a studio space in Berlin for over twenty years, since her time as a fellow of the DAAD Artists-inBerlin Program from 2003 to 2004. She has also exhibited widely in Berlin, in addition to showcasing her work in exhibitions across the globe over the course of her artistic career.
