NOMAD have announced the details of their upcoming edition in the Hamptons, set to take place from 25 to 28 June.
Held across The Watermill Center’s main venue and grounds, the event marks NOMAD’s first edition in the US. As an alternative model to traditional art fairs founded by Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, NOMAD spans various disciplines including design, contemporary and modern art, jewellery and architecture. The US edition joins previously held editions across the world, in Capri, St Moritz, Monaco, Venice, Abu Dhabi and a virtual edition in Venice.
NOMAD’s Hamptons edition continues the event’s ongoing commitment to location, as it unfolds in an area of the US marked by a rich artistic legacy, with artists including Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner and Willem de Kooning having established studios in the environs, with their practices heavily influenced by the local landscape and architecture.
Cultural exchange remains a driving force in this edition, particularly with the Arab world, with international participants including Dubai and New York-based Leila Heller Gallery and Kalei, Abu Dhabi-based Iris Projects, Cairo-based Le LAB and Istanbul-based collectable design studio GLIF. A highlight of the NOMAD Hamptons programming also features a special exhibition conceived in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi, which will take place in The Watermill Center’s grounds, with Emirati artists Afra Al Dhaheri, Zuhoor Al Sayegh and Azza Al Qubaisi showcasing their work under the title of Rooted Movements, delving into the strength of connection across time and place.
