The Busan Biennale has announced the full list of participating artists and collectives for its 2026 edition, taking place from 29 August to 1 November across three venues in the South Korean city.
Bringing together 46 artists and collectives from 22 countries, Busan Biennale 2026 will examine the political and social possibilities of sound through the theme Dissident Chorus, curated by co-artistic directors Amal Khalaf and Evelyn Simons. The biennale considers how voices, rhythms and collective acts of listening can preserve memory and create spaces of connecton beyond conventional forms of language.
The 2026 edition will feature artists and collectives working across sound, performance, choreography, moving image, installation, archival research and socially engaged practices. Among those participating are Aliaskar Abarkas, Kamala Ibrahim Ishag, Lara Ögel, Yazan Khalili, Fatima Kaleem Khan, Lala Rukh and Zahra Malkani.
The biennale will take shape across three interconnected chapters, with each venue offering a distinct perspective on the over all theme of Dissident Chorus. At the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art, the exhibition will explore ecological relationships and practices of care; at Space OneZ, it will reflect on maritime histories, labour and forms of resistance; while the Former Busan Nam High School will serve as a space for collective learning, oral histories and imagining future possibilities.
