Art Week Riyadh has announced the curatorial team for the inaugural edition led by Vittoria Matarrese, artistic director and curator; associate curators Basma Harasani and Victoria Gandit Lelandais and curator of the public programme Shumon Basar.
Matarrese shared further information on the concept: “Art Week Riyadh represents an extraordinary opportunity to engage with a city and region undergoing profound cultural transformation. The inaugural edition, At the Edge, is a platform to explore these shifts and reveal how tradition and acceleration coexist and evolve.”
At The Edge will take place across various venues in Riyadh, with the JAX District serving as the central location. The event will feature works from over 30 local, regional and international galleries, complemented by a public programme of talks, performances and cultural activities.
Art Week Riyadh is an initative from the Ministry of Culture’s Visual Arts Commission. The event is designed to underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to cultivating a thriving visual arts community. The event will spotlight the Kingdom’s cultural evolution while providing a platform for artists, galleries and institutions to engage with one another and with global trends. By fostering collaborations and connections, the event contributes to the growth and visibility of the Saudi art sector.
Art Week Riyadh runs from 6 April to 13 April
