The Jeju Biennale has unveiled the theme and participating artists for its 5th edition, which will take place from 25 August to 15 November 2026 across the Jeju Museum of Art, Jeju Stone Park (Obaekjanggun Gallery) and Jeju Old Downtown.
Under the theme Iyahong: The Art of Metamorphosis, the biennale will feature 69 artists and collectives from 21 countries, presenting works by both international and Jeju-based artists that interpret the notions of transformation and coexistence through contemporary art.
Framed by the concept Iyahong, a refrain from a traditional Jeju folk song, the biennale examines Jeju’s unique cultural landscape through three curatorial strands, Exile, Stone Culture and Mythology. Through these themes, it dissects Jeju’s history, geology and systems of belief, tracing the evolution of the island’s cultural identity.
