Tehran-based artist Khosrow Hassanzadeh pays homage to iconic Iranian and Arabic singers through his silk screen works, part of his exhibition ‘Khonyagar’ at 1×1 Art Gallery. These figures used to be celebrated in Iran, but the Revolution had pushed them out of memory. Borrowing from a tradition of placing sacred icons on tile, Hassanzadeh uses the material to elevate these musicians and ensure they are remembered. On view until 28 February.
