NOMAD Abu Dhabi is set to return for its second edition, which will take place from 18 to 22 November, bringing together an international selection of galleries, an array of collectable design and site-specific commissions.
Located within Terminal 1 of the former Abu Dhabi International Airport, NOMAD Abu Dhabi will present international and regional participants within a setting shaped by the capital’s architectural history.
Presented in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) anddirected by Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompt , the event builds on last year’s debut with an expanded programme of exhibitions, institutional partnerships and new commissions.
The exhibition programme includes projects involving House of Artisans, Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council and Design Commission Abu Dhabi. A new collaboration between the Institut du monde arabe in Paris and House of Artisans will establish an annual initiative exploring contemporary design and Emirati craft. Its inaugural commission will see Abdel El Tayeb, recipient of the IMA Design Prize 2024, develop a large-scale installation in collaboration with Emirati master artisans. ERTH Abu Dhabi will serve as the NOMAD Hub, hosting breakfasts, dinners, conversations and evening gatherings throughout the fair. Additionally, the hotel will also curate the official NOMAD pop-up restaurant.
